Paul Byrne – Senior Lawyer
After completing a law degree, Paul lectured and tutored at University in law subjects for one year while completing a Graduate Diploma in Bar Practice. Paul then gained admission as a barrister of the Supreme Courts of Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT. In that year Paul also received a student body-nominated award as one of the 50 best lecturers at QUT.
Paul is just a couple of years shy of completing his second decade of legal practice, most of that time as a solicitor and solicitor/advocate. Paul divides his practice primarily between family law, criminal law/professional misconduct, (and its related areas including traffic law and domestic violence).
Paul is a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Family Law Practitioner’s Association of Queensland, and is a qualified Independent Children’s Lawyer.
Paul has practiced in associated and specialised areas within the criminal law and quasi-criminal law jurisdictions including:
- domestic violence;
- traffic law;
- professional misconduct matters in the Misconduct Tribunal and QCAT;
- hearings in the Crime and Misconduct Commission; and
- hearings in the Australian Crime Commission.
In 2001 Paul undertook the Queensland University/Queensland Law Society Legal Practice Management Course and graduated with a Distinction.
Having practiced as a Solicitor, Associate, Senior Associate and Partner, Paul commenced the firm P J Byrne & Associates – now BYRNE LEGAL GROUP, in 2004
Practice Management and Workplace Human Relations are Paul’s collateral areas of interest and study.
